The scholarship program for women and femme roasters is back for another year at Coffee Project New York to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

Our goal with this program is to uplift current members of the coffee community, and provide resources and opportunities where they are currently scarce for women. Women face many obstacles to entry in roasting jobs because of dated perceptions in capability and strength; coffee roasteries are frequently male-dominated workplaces despite being one of the main pathways for upward mobility within the coffee industry.

Six recipients will be selected to participate in our Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Roasting Foundation course. Applications open March 1st, 2025 and close on March 31st, 2025. Recipients will be announced in the following weeks, and class will take place in New York City in summer/fall 2025.

Location and Travel Information
This class will be held in-person in our training facility in New York City with no remote learning option. This scholarship is for New York-based students or students willing to pay out-of-pocket for travel when class is held in summer/fall 2025. Coffee Project New York will not cover any cost of travel for scholarship recipients.

Experience Requirement
This scholarship is intended for women and femme-identifying individuals within the coffee industry. Our goal is to uplift current and former coffee employees, and provide resources and opportunities where they are currently scarce in the community. Scholarship recipients will be selected with this in mind.

Community Goals
While this is not a requirement for application, we ask our scholarship recipients to describe how they intend to give back to their own communities and share skills gained from this class.
